Over the course of more than a century, Holy Week, the Glory festivities, and the popular religiosity of Lucena have generated an extraordinary editorial, journalistic, and documentary legacy, which today constitutes one of the principal cultural expressions<\/strong> linked to local traditions. Books, magazines, proclamations, articles, historical and anthropological studies, photographic publications, musical research, monographs on religious brotherhoods, posters and digital media<\/strong> together form a rich documentary heritage that bears witness to the deep social, cultural, and devotional significance of these celebrations in the life of the town.<\/p>\n The continuity of this written and visual output also demonstrates the capacity of Holy Week and the Glory festivities of Lucena to generate collective memory, knowledge, research and intergenerational transmission centred on<\/strong> a living heritage that extends far beyond the strictly religious sphere. This legacy provides insight not only into the history of its brotherhoods and confraternities, but also into the unique phenomenon of \u2018santer\u00eda\u2019, the town\u2019s sculptural and monumental heritage, processional music, the Lucena \u2018saeta\u2019, its sound heritage, and the principal Passion and Glory devotions that shape the cultural identity of Lucena.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” custom_margin=”|auto|-48px|auto|false|false” border_width_all=”0px” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” header_3_font=”Poppins|600|||||||” header_3_font_size=”27px” custom_padding=”3px|||||” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” header_3_font=”Poppins|600|||||||” header_3_font_size=”27px” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n The first references<\/strong> to Holy Week in Lucena in the local press appeared in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries<\/strong> through brief reports on religious worships and penitential processions. With the revival of the brotherhoods, particulary during the Primo de Rivera\u2019s dictatorship, the printed press began to provide more detailed information on the brotherhoods, religious worships, processions, and the main local devotions.<\/p>\n Following the Spanish Civil War, the local press re-emerged with publications such as Producci\u00f3n<\/em><\/strong>, from 1953 onwards, and Luceria<\/em><\/strong>, from 1955. Subsequently, Gaceta Lucentina<\/em><\/strong>, published between 1980 and 1984, revived the monographic coverage of Holy Week and introduced reports on \u2018santer\u00eda\u2019, analyses of \u2018cuadrillas\u2019 (carrying teams), and diagrams of the processional thrones showing the names of the santeros.<\/p>\n In 1988, La Voz de Lucena y del Sur de la Provincia<\/em><\/strong>was launched, directed by Gonzalo Angulo Vigo, who for decades maintained its special Holy Week editions, featuring procession routes, interviews, information on governing boards, and reports on brotherhoods\u2019 activities. The most recent issue on this subject was published in 2019.<\/p>\n Alongside these publications, magazines such as Araceli<\/em><\/strong>, published by the Real Archicofrad\u00eda de Mar\u00eda Sant\u00edsima de Araceli (Royal Archconfraternity of Mar\u00eda Sant\u00edsima de Araceli) since 1958, have made a decisive contribution to preserving the memory of the Glory festivities and one of the great historical devotions of Lucena.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”||50px||false|false” border_width_all=”0px” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” header_3_font=”Poppins|600|||||||” header_3_font_size=”27px” custom_padding=”3px|||||” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” header_3_font=”Poppins|600|||||||” header_3_font_size=”27px” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Within the world of Lucena\u2019s religious brotherhoods, Torralbo<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, stands out as the educational and informational publication of the Agrupaci\u00f3n de Cofrad\u00edas of Lucena, with its first issue appearing during Lent in 1982. Over the years, this publication has established itself as a leading reference for the study and promotion of Holy Week in Lucena, with both regular issues and special editions, such as the one dedicated to the Magna Pasionista Procession.<\/p>\n The Official Programme for Holy Week in Lucena<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, published regularly by the Agrupaci\u00f3n de Cofrad\u00edas of Lucena since the 1980s, is also a key reference publication for the annual dissemination of religious services, timetables, procession routes, newly introduced heritage elements, and other content related to the celebrations.<\/p>\n From the 1980s onwards, there was a proliferation of numerous magazines and newsletters published by Passion and Glory brotherhoods<\/strong>. These include Fe y Hermandad (Faith and Brotherhood)<\/em>, Campanitas (Littel Bells)<\/em>, Silencio (Silence)<\/em>, Getseman\u00ed (Gethsemane)<\/em>, Humildad (Humility)<\/em>, Pasi\u00f3n Franciscana (Franciscan Passion)<\/em>, Resurrecci\u00f3n y \u00c1ngeles (Resurrection and Angels)<\/em>, Columna de Esperanza (Pillar of Hope)<\/em>, Encuentro (Encounter)<\/em>, Soledad (Solitude)<\/em>, Carmelo de Pasi\u00f3n (Carmel of Passion)<\/em> and Servitas (Servites), <\/em>some of which are still published annually. One of the most comprehensive and wide-ranging studies published to date on the history of the religious brotherhoods and confraternities of Lucena is Notas para la historia de las cofrad\u00edas lucentinas (Notes for the History of Lucena\u2019s Brotherhoods and Confraternities)<\/em>,<\/strong> a work by Francisco L\u00f3pez Salamanca<\/span><\/span>, published in 2022, which provides an exhaustive examination of the historical, social, religious and heritage evolution of Lucena\u2019s brotherhood world. Also noteworthy is Horquillo, diccionario semanasantero de Lucena (Horquillo: A Dictionary of Holy Week in Lucena)<\/em><\/strong> (1998), by Ricardo Moreno G\u00f3mez; Los or\u00edgenes de la Semana Santa, sus inicios en Lucena (The Origins of Holy Week: Its Beginnings in Lucena)<\/em><\/strong> (1999), by Jos\u00e9 Rodr\u00edguez de Mill\u00e1n; El propiciatorio de Dios (The Propitiatory of God). In addition to literary works, there is also the release of several CDs and audio recordings<\/strong>, which help to preserve and disseminate some of the most characteristic sounds of Holy Week in Lucena and compositions associated with the Glory celebrations.
