The work of Lucena\u2019s brotherhoods and confraternities is not expressed just in the streets, beneath the light of candles and the sound of the drum. Their greatness is also built within the everyday spaces where they gather, work, and preserve their memory: the brotherhood houses<\/strong>. These places are much more than administrative headquarters; they are true confraternity homes where devotion, fraternal fellowship, and organisation coexist,<\/strong> giving life to each of the moments that shape their processions.<\/p>\n

Each brotherhood house is a space in which a wide variety of functions are brought together. There, processional thrones and ceremonial items are kept, religious services are prepared, members are formed, and values of respect, dedication and faith<\/strong> are passed on to new generations. Throughout the year, they become meeting places where charitable activities, formation programmes, social gatherings, and lectures are organised, extending the spirit of Holy Week on their respective Glory feast beyond the day of its celebration.<\/p>\n

These houses also fulfil a highly important heritage function<\/strong>. Within them are preserved artistic pieces of incalculable value \u2015processional thrones, insignia, embroidery, and gold and silverwork\u2015 which form part of the identity of the town. In Lucena, different realities coexist<\/strong>: brotherhoods with premises open to visitors and an active social life; others that open their facilities primarily as museum spaces; and others which, without a permanent exhibition purpose, maintain premises dedicated to the preservation and preparation of their heritage.<\/p>\n

Special mention should be made of the Brotherhood House of the Confraternity of Love and Peace (Casa Hermandad de la Cofrad\u00eda Amor y Paz)<\/strong>, which houses an interesting collection of sacred art and audiovisual material relating to Holy Week, and the Brotherhood House of the Confraternity of the Colum (Casa Hermandad de la Cofrad\u00eda de la Columna)<\/strong>, which preserves items of the great historical value and recreates the atmosphere of Holy Thursday in Lucena. The Brotherhood House of Our Lady of Solitude (Casa Hermandad de la Soledad)<\/strong>, associated with one of the most venerated Marian images, likewise preserves an important historical heritage.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the House Museum of Our Lady of Araceli (Casa Museo de la Virgen de Araceli)<\/strong> is a devotional and heritage landmark closely linked to the Patroness of the town. Special mention should be made of the Santer\u00eda Museum of the Venerable Archconfraternity of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene (Museo de la Santer\u00eda de la Venerable Archicofrad\u00eda de Nuestro Padre Jes\u00fas Nazareno) <\/strong> which, having been inaugurated in 2015, remained closed for several years and is currently undergoing reconstruction to reopening to the public. All of them can be visited by previous arrangement with the corresponding confraternity or brotherhood. To these may be added the brotherhood houses of Silencio (Silence)<\/strong> (which houses a replica of its titular image alongside the institution\u2019s ceremonial items), el Huerto (the Garden)<\/strong> (which also manages the Getseman\u00ed Confraternity Corner), and La Sangre (the Blood) Sangre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Other houses primarily fulfil the essential role of safeguarding and preparing processional thrones and ceremonial items, ensuring the preservation of a heritage which, although not always on permanent display, forms an indispensable part of Lucena\u2019s confraternity identity.<\/p>\n

Some of the Glory brotherhoods also have their own dedicated premises. This is the case of the Hermandad de San Jos\u00e9 Artesano (Brotherhood of Saint Joseph the Craftsman)<\/strong>, whose premises remain open on a very regular assiduousness; the Caseta de la Hermandad de Nuestra Se\u00f1ora del Roc\u00edo (Brotherhood Stand of Our Lady of El Roc\u00edo),<\/strong> a meeting place for pilgrims and horse-drawn carriages in the days leading up to their departure towards Almonte, guided by their \u2018simpecado\u2019, as well as a regular venue for social gatherings and festive events; and the house of the Brotherhood of Drummers, linked to one of the most distinctive elements of the town\u2019s sound heritage.<\/p>\n

Taken together, the brotherhood houses form a true map of religious life in Lucena. Each one reflects the character of its respective brotherhood or confraternity, but they all share the same spirit: to be places of faith, memory, and future. They are the natural extension of the brotherhoods and confraternities<\/strong>, lthe places where every detail of Holy Week and the Glory festivities are prepared, and where the passion of people is kept alive day by day, becoming a constant and enduring presence in the cultural, social, and spiritual life of the town throughout the year.<\/strong><\/p>\n
