9th December 2025.– The Agrupación de Cofradías of Lucena yesterday held its traditional celebrations in honour of the Immaculate Conception, Patron Saint of both the institution and Spain, in a day that once again brought together the city’s brotherhoods, confraternities and faithful around the Virgin Mary.
The day began at the Parish Church of St James the Apostle with the Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, celebrated by Father Antonio Tejero Díaz. This first moment of quiet reflection set the spiritual tone for the morning and was followed by the praying of the Holy Rosary through the streets of the historic centre. The procession made its way to the Monument to the Immaculate Conception, where the traditional floral tribute took place. A simple yet deeply symbolic gesture that each year renews the commitment of Lucena’s confraternity community to purity, faith and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Later, at the Major Parish Church of St Matthew the Apostle, the Agrupación’s Rule Mass was celebrated by Father Diego Fernando Figueroa Cabrera, Parish Vicar. The Mass was the central moment of the day, reaffirming the ecclesiastic character of the Agrupación and its close ties with parish and diocesan life.
