Agrupación de Cofradías of Lucena (Lucena Association of Brotherhoods)
Board of Officers
On Thursday, July 20, at 9:00 p. m., the Oath-Taking and Inauguration Ceremony of the new Board of Officers of the Agrupación de Cofradías of Lucena took place at the Major Parish Church of St. Matthew the Apostle, presided over by Mr. Antonio Díaz Serrano. This ceremony fulfilled the Decree dated June 26, 2023, issued by the Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, the Very Reverend Mr. Jesús Daniel Alonso Porras, which confirmed the appointment of the new President, elected in accordance with the provisions of the Statutes during the Extraordinary General Election Assembly held on June 13, 2023, as well as the appointment of the other members of the Governing Board.
The event was attended by the town’s major, Mr. Aurelio Fernández, accompained by a large group of representatives from the Local Council, practically comprising the full political delegation. The ceremony began with the invocation to the Holy Spirit and the introductory reflection, delivered by the Most Illustrious Mr. Jesús María Moriana Elvira, Adviser Priest of the Agrupación de Cofradías and Episcopal Vicar of the Campiña. Following the reading of the Decree of Approval issued by the Bishop, the Oath-Taking Ceremony began with the participation of the Secretary of the Agrupación, who received the medal from the President. Afterward, the remaining members of the Board of Officers were called forward one by one to receive their own medals.
On an afternoon marked by intense heat, the re-elected President, Mr. Antonio Díaz Serrano, not only thanked all those in attendance for their presence, but also encouraged the confraternity community to work together in order to continue strengthening the Agrupación de Cofradías of Lucena. He pointed out that, in doing so, Holy Week and the Passion brotherhoods, the Glory confraternities, and the Santería tradition are likewise exalted: “That unity is what will make it possible to achieve great projects and ensure that our traditions continue to grow through innovation, while always respecting the essence of tradition”.
