04.06.2026.- The Board of Officers of the Agrupación de Cofradías of Lucena, at its ordinary meeting held on Thursday, 28th May 2026, agreed under the fourth item on the agenda to appoint the Proclaimer of Lucena Holy Week 2027, a responsibility entrusted to Mr Rafael Romero Fernández.
Born in Lucena in 1971, he holds a degree in Labour Relations from the University of Córdoba As a proclaimer, he has delivered the Proclamation of the Holy Faith in 2011 and the Proclamation of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene in 2018 As a presenter, his most notable appearances include the Proclamation of the Holy Faith, the Proclamation of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene, and the Presentation of the Official Poster for Lucena Holy Week 2025. His contributions to various local Holy Week publications, particularly the magazine ‘Torralbo’, are also noteworthy
At the age of thirteen he made his debut as a ‘santero’ with Our Lady of Araceli of Córdoba and has had the honour of carrying out the ‘santería’ of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene during Lucena’s Great Passion Procession A born ‘santero’, he has taken part in almost sixty ‘santerías’ and has served as ‘manijero’ of Our Father Jesus Fallen in 1990 and of Saint Mary of Araceli in 2011.
He was a member of the Agrupación de Cofradías of Lucena during the presidency of Mr José María Morillo-Velarde, and also served on the governing board of the Brotherhood of Jesus Fallen, holding the offices of Deputy Secretary and Secretary. He has been a member of the Governing Board of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene since 2014 and belongs to the Venerable Archconfraternity of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene, the Brotherhood of Love and Peace, the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Sacrament and the Archconfraternity of Our Lady of Araceli.
Married and the father of two children, his composure and deep Christian devotion have always been among his defining qualities. He has consistently conveyed the values of brotherhood and the Christian spirit of selfless service to his family, his professional environment and his brotherhood life, qualities that make him a worthy choice to proclaim Lucena Holy Week 2027.
