26th January 2026.-The Agrupación de Cofradías of Lucena welcomed around fifty visitors from Jerez de los Caballeros this weekend, who had chosen our town as their destination in order to discover at first hand the distinctive character of its Holy Week.

For the institution, it has been a genuine privilege to share with them the essence of our ‘santería’, our traditions, and that unique way of living the faith which defines Lucena’s identity. Throughout the visit, the group had the opportunity to discover not only the artistic and devotional heritage of our brotherhoods and confraternities, but also the anthropological and cultural significance of a tradition that has been transmitted from a generation to the next one.

The Agrupación de Cofradías would also like to express its sincere gratitude to Lucena Town Council and the Fundación Ciudades Medias del Centro de Andalucía (Foundation of the Medium-Sized Towns of Central Andalusia), whose support was instrumental in making this visit possible.

We would also like to acknowledge the commitment and generosity of Lucena’s brotherhoods and confraternities, which opened their doors to share their heritage and history; the collaboration of the Brotherhood of Drummers (Hermandad de Tambores) of Lucena, which gave the group the opportunity to experience one of the most distinctive and moving sounds of our Holy Week; and the willingness of the parish priests of the town’s churches to support this initiative.

Encounters such as this strengthen the bonds between communities, highlight the value of our shared heritage, and encourage us to continue preserving and promoting a living tradition that forms part of the very soul of Lucena.
