Torralbo Magazine: Great Passion Procession Special Edition 

Torralbo, the informative and educational magazine of theAgrupación de Cofradías of Lucena since 1983, once again comes before its readers on an extraordinary occasion. The first Great Passion Procession in the town’s history, to be held on 27th September 2025 as part of the Jubilee Year, has inspired this special edition, which is destined to become part of Lucena’s collective memory.

This special edition serves as the perfect introduction to the Great Passion Procession ‘Lucena Vive la Pasión’. Its pages bring together a carefully selection of articles, concise historical and heritage notes on the participating brotherhoods and confraternities, and ―most notably― the complete composition of the eighteen ‘cuadrillas de santero’ (santero crews) that will carry and guide the processional thrones during this unique occasion. It is further enriched by an extensive photographic collection featuring ‘manijeros’, ‘porrillas’, ‘tamboreros’ and ‘torralbos’, offering a detailed glimpse into the human and aesthetic richness of the ‘santería’ tradition, recently recognised as a National Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC).

Alongside these core features, this special edition includes messages of welcome from the Agrupación de Cofradías of Lucena, the Episcopal Vicariate of the Campiña, Lucena Town Council, and the Provincial Council of Córdoba.

The publication also remains true to its educational and cultural mission. It offers readers a journey through the history of Holy Week in Lucena, which was declarated a Festival of Tourist Interest in Andalusia in 2003, with particular emphasis on the ‘santería’ tradition ―the backbone of this heritage and the distinctive feature that sets Lucena apart on the international brotherhood scene. The edition also features contributions from local chroniclers and regular contributors, placing the Great Passion Procession within the historical, artistic, and social development of Lucena.
